We start by carefully inspecting the boat’s damage to determine whether it’s purely cosmetic or if there’s a more serious structural issue. Maintaining the integrity and appearance of boats is crucial, so we clean the affected area to remove any dirt and wax. By polishing the area around the damage, we restore the boat’s original color, allowing us to mix the gelcoat perfectly to match the boat’s specific color.
For boats, a seamless repair is essential. The filling mixture is applied to the damaged area on the boat using a spatula, ensuring it stands slightly proud to match the surrounding surface. Once cured, we carefully sand the area until it’s smooth and level, blending it flawlessly with the rest of the boat, so the repair is virtually invisible.
To complete the process, we apply a final layer of unthickened gelcoat over the repair, perfect for boats, adding a small amount of wax-in-styrene to improve flow and ease curing. Once dry, we sand and polish the surface to achieve a smooth and glossy finish. Finally, we apply a UV-protective wax to safeguard the fixed area. With these steps, the repair is fully integrated, leaving the boat looking as good as new and ready to hit the water again, ensuring the boat’s top condition for years to come.
